Special Awards
1. President's Award. Div. IX, Class 6-2 through 6-8 (excluding 6-4.2 & 6-7) + 7-3.3 + 7-4.9, 25 Various. White glass with black + black glass with white. White includes clambroth, cream, ivory, milk, opalescent. Includes intermixed black & white. May be painted, enameled paint, glass on glass. Clear tops ok, as in paperweight and moonglow buttons, as long as both black and white show under the clear glass top. No OME, lusters or other colors allowed, except gray or silver paint. 5 or less studios, label studio makers. OSBS $5-3-2

2. Past President's Award. Div. I, Class 1-0, various. Celluloid assorted. OSBS $5-3-2

3. Memorial Award for Departed Members. Div. IX, Sec 16-1, 25 any. Materials Summary of Sections 1 through 15 except 3, specialized to buttons that are predominantly blue on the surface. Ref. Pg. 55 in NBS Glossary. OSBS $5-3-2

4. Velma Owens Award. Div I, Sec 1 thru 15, Various. Assorted materials specialized to Paris backs and French back marks. Label back marks. CSBS $25-15-10

Division I Awards
5. Class 4-0, 25 any. Enamels assorted, specialized to rose and rose-like (benefit of doubt to be given). Any amount of roses acceptable. Refer to "Fun Buttons" by Peggy Osborne, page 31. Corvallis Button Club $5-3-2

6. Class 10-14.1.1, 42 small. Pigeon Eyes. Per glossary definition Pg. 48, "One tiny round glass ball set anywhere in the face of the button. Glass can be red, green or black, usually finished with a bronze or iridescent luster that is often quite worn." Faceted glass acceptable. Shelley Strick $5-3-2

Division III Awards

12. (L) Class 7-4.11, 42 small. Moonglows, specialized to vintage with gold luster, excluding white moonglows. Limited to those who have never won an award in moonglows. Corvallis Button Club $5-3-2

13. Class 10-0, 25 any. Metals, specialized to "Machine Art" style, which are buttons that may resemble machine parts, may be odd-shaped, clunky, crude, metal twisted on metal, or look like something a blacksmith might have made. Myrel Rose $5-3-2

14. Class 12-2.2, 25 any. Acrylic "Lucite" specialized to clear colorless, cut on back only. No colored acrylic, no paint or other DF, no OME of any kind. Myrel Rose $5-3-2

Division IX Awards
19. Sec 1 thru 15, various. Assorted materials, specialized to Chinese and Japanese pictorial subjects and symbols, no balance required. In memory of Jean Corcoran. OCBC $5-3-2

20. Class 1-0 + 12-8.5, 25 any. Celluloid and other synthetic polymers that imitate tortoise-shell. Best representation will include assorted Celluloids and various types of synthetic polymers and plastic classes. Label one example of each plastic type, if known. Anne Morgan $5-3-2

22. Class 6-4.3, 35 mixed. Painted black glass, specialized to imitation fabric with predominantly matte finished paint (that is NOT fired on) over at least half of the button face. 23. Class 7-0, 25 any. Clear/colored glass assorted, specialized to floral pictorials. Benefit of doubt to be given as to stylized. Need not be labeled by class number nor mounted in order. OCBC $5-3-2

32. Class 18-12, 20 any. Specialized to skulls, skeletons or parts of skeletons of humans. Other subject matter allowed and the skull/bone aspect does not have to be predominant. No limit on studios, but label makers if known. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. Uniform buttons allowed. Objects & architectural structures specialized to: man-made monuments, statues or bridges (10 required); maps, compasses, signs with directions (10 required). 5 free choice of the types called for in this award. 34. (L) Class 19-0, 25 any. Plant life assorted. No stylized. Limited to beginners. Oregon City Button Club $5-3-2

35. Class 19-2, 25 any. Flowers assorted. No stylized. Label flower types if known. In honor of Doris Price. OCBC $5-3-2

36. Class 19-2, 25 any. Flowers in Song - assorted flowers. Label each button with the song title. Also label with the lyric that includes name of flower, if not in the title. Limit to 3 studio buttons. Portland Button Club $5-3-2

37. Class 19-3.3, Various. Grapes. Other subject matter not to be considered and is allowed only if it's an insignificant part of the design. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. Portland Button Club $5-3-2

38. Class 20-2, 25 any. Astronomical, specialized to sun, moon, planets, comets and stars. At least one of each must be represented. Other subject matter allowed, and astronomical part of the design may be any size. Refer to 20-2 in glossary, Page 57. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. 39. Class 20-7, 25 any. Fabulous creatures. Suggest labeling creatures and materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. Bryan Gilbert $5-3-2

40. Class 20-8, 20 any. Fops (Incroyables and Merveilleuses). May be either the man or the woman or both on the button. May be with other subject matter, and any amount of the design may be the fop, including less than 50%. Other "dandies" of the period are acceptable, but no Napoleon buttons. Limit of 2 studios, which must be labeled. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to identify. Nancy Howery, $5-3-2

41. Class 20-15, 25 various. Mythological. Label characters. Label one example each of origin (Greek, Roman, etc.). Also label materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. Doris Price $5-3-2

42. Class 20-22.1.1, Various. Ships/boats, specialized to those with sails. Suggest labeling identifiable types, if known. No studios. Anne Morgan $5-3-2

43. Class 20-23, 25 any. Women, full figures and heads. May include mythological women in human form. Women with dog, other animals, child or man are allowed but woman needs to be approximately 50% or more of the design and the focus of the button. Buttons more appropriate to the Couples Class should not be used here. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. 5 or fewer studios. Peggy Lee Mathes $5-3-2

44. Class 22-2, 25 any. Symbols assorted. Emphasis is on 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4. Limited to five from 2.3 Pictorial - from glossary Pg. 59 "e.g., a dove represents peace - a symbolic meaning." Labeling required on representations of 2.3 Pictorial and 2.4 Rebus. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. Shelley Strick $5-3-2

45. (L) Class 23-10, 25 any. Shapes, assorted. Try for as many different linear and contour shapes as possible, including one round. Maximum of 5 realistics. Try for as many different materials as possible. Suggest labeling materials that might be difficult for judges to determine. Limited to novice collectors. Anne Morgan $5-3-2

46. (L) Class 23-12, 30 buttons in 10 sets of 3. Matching triplets, which is 3 matching buttons, each a different size. Slight changes based on aging, exposure to sun or wear acceptable. Otherwise, buttons must be identical except for size. Occasionally an element of the design is omitted on the smaller buttons due to size constraints and this is acceptable. Uniform buttons allowed. Label materials or other aspects that might be helpful to judges. Limited to collectors of 5 years or less. SOBC $5-3-2

47. (L) Class 23-12, 30 buttons in 10 sets of 3. Matching triplets, which is 3 matching buttons, each a different size. Slight changes based on aging, exposure to sun or wear acceptable. Otherwise, buttons must be identical except for size. Occasionally an element of the design is omitted on the smaller buttons due to size constraints and this is acceptable. Uniform buttons allowed. Label materials or other aspects that might be helpful to judges. Limited to collectors of more than 5 years. SOBC $5-3-2

48. Class 25-7, size 35 mixed. Overall buttons assorted, those that were made for men's work clothing during the early 20th century - wobble and riveted/stud shanks only.
